Each time we go to the beach, John prides himself on weird finds. He searches and searches for fish or crabs or whatever, until he discovers something interesting. On this trip we had lots of seaweed on the beach and then of course some in the water as well, which isn't cool. But whatcha gonna do? John's plan? Scoop it up out of the water and look for stuff in it. And low and behold, he found stuff. Now to me, seaweed is seaweed, but to John seaweed is Sargassum. I think my words to him after the correction was, "Bite me." Anyway, after his discovery of the sea crap in the seaweed, some of our other boys became intrigued and decided to go in search of sea crap of their own.
Now there's one other story about the seaweed. One day whilst Lindsey was frolicking in the ocean, she picked up some of the seaweed/sargassum and plopped it on her head as if to make a wedding veil of crap. This of course was BEFORE she knew there were critters in it. To my great dismay there are no pictures of her "dressing her head." But I wish you could have seen her face when she found out she had inadvertently placed varmits atop her noggin. It was some funny crap. Not to be confused with sea crap. Two totally different things.
Let's have a look. Shall we?
Owen's holding a big bunch of the stuff as others sift through it.
Here they look as if they are having a meeting.
Still searching.
And even though you may think that's seaweed, it's a fish that looks like seaweed. It looks kinda gross to me, but it's sort of amazing that a Sargassum fish, that looks just like seaweed, knows to live in the seaweed for protection. Truly amazing how that works.
It kept them occupied for quite some time.
A brown crab was another find.
The girls chose only to watch, letting the boys search for sea crap. From the looks of the sky, people may need to be scurrying inside!
No sea animals were injured in the catching of the sea crap. All things were released back into the ocean so they could fight to live against all predators searching for food.
I'm glad I'm not sea crap.
Hasta la tacos.
