Scroll for 2 to finish 2016

Finishing 2016 with a 2 post day.

Peace out to the people.

The parade of the Ginger homes, 2001, 2006-1016

Turns out this didn't take long at all.

2008
2008
2009
2010 Fall house.

2016
That's a wrap on the Ginger houses as well as the year 2016.

Lets agree 2017 will be the best ever. We added babies in 2015, 2016 and we have one coming in 2017 as well. Someone needs to keep the streak alive for 2018.

Here's a parting factoid for you. Auld Lang Syne is a Scottish tune written by Robert Burns in the 1700's and was never intended as a holiday song. Did not know that until I just looked it up. It's supposed to be about remembering times gone by.

Well, 2016 went by and it wasn't offensive.

Don't screw up the streak 2017.

I'll be watching...

Godspeed to all.

2016 is over, but we have 2008 and 2012 ginger business to finish

I'll be ending 2016 talking about 2008 and 2012. Gingerbread houses that is. These are the pictures Becky found of the gingerbread houses of 2008 and 2012 and sent to me last week, but the hustle and bustle of the week leading up to Christmas caused me to not post them. I think it best if I try to line up one pic from each year and make it a doozy of a two post day today. We'll see if that happens.

In the meantime, I'm home with the boys watching Alabama probably win again and let me say boys are kinda boring. At least grown boys. At least my grown boys. The girls are in Texas and the boys are vegetating on computers and football. Boring.

In other news, I don't really have any. The holidays are winding down with the old year and next week we'll be off and running into 2017. I hope it's a good one we will remember fondly.

Lets get on with the gingerbreads and then I can work on my next post!

After seeing these pictures I now remember that in 2008 we had lots of boxes of bought gingerbread kits that the girls had never made. I cleared off a spot and had a fit and made them make these so they wouldn't be in my Christmas boxes. And so it was in 2008 this is what we had. A house, a train and some small bungalows as well.
The main Ginger house was meager but quite quaint.
The Gingers had this train made special for the grands. The grands loved it.
Look! It's a Ginger village! With gumdrop fences.
It's really lovely and picturesque. Must have been the humble beginnings of the Ginger family.
In 2012, the Gingers must have added a barn to the complex and hadn't updated any of the family dwellings. I love a red barn with coconut snow.
I guess the brown pan for the base could double for dirt around the barn. We didn't think that through.
And look! It has a hatch back.
Cuteness all around.
I'm loving this a lot.
Last one.
That's it for the Ginger business and now I'm off to try to do one more post with a single pic from each gingerbread offering over the years. Here's hoping I can make that happen before the night ends.

If you don't see another post, Happy New Year to all and to all a goodnight and safe night and fun night, but not too much fun. Enough fun for all to be careful and safe.

See ya 2016, you weren't bad at all.

Fall house of 2010 and Merry Christmas

It's the Merry Christmas of 2016. The waning hours of Christmas Eve have passed and now it's the earliest of Christmas mornings. I hope everyone has the happiest Christmas you could have. Missing you Mollie on this day, and Aaron of course. Hope your Illinois Christmas is fun and makes you happy. Can't wait until next year when you are both here.
It was a good Christmas Eve here doing our usual....cooking all day, communion this evening, and then cooking all night at Grandma's house. We are tucked in for the night and then we start again tomorrow.

This will be short and sweet and to the point, because it's 2 AM and I'm so tired. Here's the other house I was or wasn't talking about in a previous post.

Challah bread! And Happy Hanukah!

Now it's bonus time.

In October 2010 my girls got a wild hair and decided to make a Fall harvest house. I'm not sure if they made it out of gingerbread, but how cute is this thing?! Scroll and see. I love it.
It's very fallish.
A cute little house right next to a pumpkin patch.
Caramel and candy corn and marzipan pumpkins are all part of this.
An owl on the roof and on the side.
It's the cutest Fall house I've ever seen.
I also think it's the only Fall house I've ever seen.
And that's the end of this post.
Wait, one more.
That's it for me. I'm so tired. God bless us all so much we can't imagine it.

Love to all.

The 2016 gingerbread house gets us current

It's Christmas Eve and the miracle has happened. I will finish the gingerbread series on time and under budget. It's my greatest gift to the people.

Before I discuss this year's ginger housing, we are currently finishing the last of our baking. It's been a multi day process with at least 20 pounds of flour, 15 pounds of sugar, 5 -18 packs of eggs and no partridges in pears trees anywhere. Thank God for that since I don't care for birds with their witch hands. I thought I had over bought baking goods by way too much, turns out I did not. Well done me. But there have been so many trips to the grocery store I can't count them but it's approximately 2 gazillion. Our boys just got back from hopefully our last one for the season.

There's lots of day left to go, here's to a good one.

Now to the Ginger abode. The homemade gingerbread made a reappearance in 2017. I think the girls have perfected the process for successful homemade construction worthy gingerbread.

Lets see where the Gingers rest their heads this year....

2016 found the Ginger family spending most of their time overseeing the construction of their new house. Theirs was a bold choice to build an unusual house in Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Ginger debated back and forth over whether a farmhouse or a shotgun New Orleans style home would be their forever home. The Mrs. knew what she wanted and the Mr. knew she would have no other way but hers. He gave in to her wishes and gave up on his dream of a Texas farmhouse.

She won this round, but he knows there's always 2017 for another shot at his dream.
An early evening participant.
He does good work.
The participants and the spectators.
The construction crew.
It takes time and patience.
And a vision.
Crushed up purple candy...
Makes for lovely stained glass windows.
The furrowed brow of a hard working construction engineer.
It's a two floored structure.
Mimsie in the background thinks it looks lickable.
The stained glass windows are looking lovely.
It has a candy ribbon roof.
The rear of the house.
The magic is coming together.
The side french doors and the patio.
Close up of that side of the house.
There's the fire pit and the log pile.
It's an impressive home for the Gingers.
Just a couple more pics of this year's offering.
The back.
The front.
Closer.
Closest.
During the ginger house making a spontaneous dance party broke out with William.
I'm happy to report the Gingers are currently living happily ever after....or until November 2017. Mrs. Ginger is quite happy in her new home which is an homage to her Louisiana roots, Mr. Ginger, not so much. While he loves the house, he still believes a Texas farmhouse was needed to complete his retirement dream.

Newsflash: I feel I've boxed the ginger makers in for 2017.

That's a wrap on the life of the Gingers and their homes throughout the years. Over the years it's been a source of much memory making, and the tradition all started with a conversation and a plan.

And now it's that time people. It's after five o'clock and we've got some things to wrap up here before we're off to communion and then to Gmaw's for breakfast making and merriment.

I hope all people have someone to enjoy this Christmas with. I hope for all the merriest of Christmases ever and goodwill to all people on earth. Bless and protect the innocent from those who have no good will towards anyone.

Love, Me
