Catching up a little

It seems like ages since I've been here. During that time so many things have happened and it's all been a real trip for me. Lets see what I'm talking about.

Back in September I had a tooth problem, although I didn't know it was my tooth. I went to the doctor and he was all like, "Back up I've never seen anything like that before on your gums" and I was all like "thanks, I'm super excited to have something original." He gave me an antibiotic and then after the doctor visit, I went to the dentist in October and they used three words that people love to hear, abscess and root canal. Excellent. Then the dentist man sent me to an Endodontist man, which is another awesome fun place to go. So when I went to the endo, who looked to be the ripe old age of 20, and after he looked at the x-ray of my teeth, he talked about replacing things and drilling things and blah blah blah, it was less than thrilling to say the least. My appointment was set for two weeks from my initial visit. Which is my next favorite thing....making an appointment for two root canals and then thinking about it during the wait.

Hold that thought while I now talk about Dallas. Our girls trip was last weekend and it was an unusual one this time. Our trips are usually from a Thursday to a Sunday but because we wanted to attend Walker's 1st ever b'day party, we decided to make our trip from Saturday to Tuesday.

Gmaw and some of her great grands.
Also new to the trip was an Olivia, since her "sched" is wide open these days. The weather was horrendous, cold, rain, snow, more cold. But we powered through to shop for Christmas and other stuff to the point of shutting my bank card down until they could speak to me in person. And I'm not even kidding.
We saw some beautifully lit trees.
That's snow in case you can't tell.
This was much prettier in person.
This is a drive by store for us, no shopping in there.
Found a book written about me. Yeah I know I've already used that joke on photo stream.
As the trip was winding down on Tuesday and Dallas was becoming tiny in the rearview, my root canals were looming large in the future...Wednesday morning to be exact. So Gmaw, Olivia and I were motoring home, living large and talking about Christmas. (Actually Gmaw and I were talking, Olivia had a neck pillow, hat, headphones and sunglasses as her barriers to the world.) We were making good time, gonna be home before dark...so that I could think about the dentist appt. all night long. We were in Shreveport when a lady pulled up beside me on the highway honking her horn with her window rolled down. Clearly this was for a reason and not to make friends. So I rolled my window down to see what she had to say....my tire was almost flat. Noooooo. There goes the making good time and getting home before dark. Well it just so happened that I was at the exit I was gonna take to meet my niece Meredith so I could pick up my super cute snowman door hanging.
And not far down on the exit was a gas station, and after a quick look sure enough my tire was so freaking flat. Total bummer. As Meredith and I were discussing my options, a man walked up and offered to change the tire. God bless him. He quickly started trying to get the spare out from under my car and he just couldn't figure it out. After one whole hour of trying, another man quietly walked up and told him what he was doing wrong and walked away after he made sure the first man was doing it correctly. God bless him too! Then another man stopped to jack the car up quickly with his super fancy jack.

God bless him as well! After all that.... and in no time flat...pun intended...we were back on the road. Just 1 1/2 hours later. So many ughs. But, I'm happy to report we made it home safely. Thank the good Lord. My nerves were as fried as bacon by the time I got home and sat down on the couch.

BUT.

Then I had nothing to think about except the next morning and two root canals. So so so many ughs. After almost no sleep, Wednesday morning came like a freight train and there was no stopping it. I had barely sat down in the waiting room at the endo's office when they called me to the back. OMG I wasn't ready! I'll spare all the minute details but after 2 1/2 hours of drilling and x-raying and drilling some more and... blah blah blah. IT. WAS. SO. MUCH. FUN. I'm happy to report my teeth have better roots. Or other roots or newer roots or replaceable roots. I don't know. Thank the Lord for 20 year old looking competent endodontists. God bless him and all the people. The best news for me is that I've had no pain at all from the dental work and I'm very grateful for that. God bless us everyone!

Back to the report on the tire. OF COURSE it was ruined. HUGE hole that ruined some steel belts inside. I have no knowledge of running over one thing that would have caused that to occur. And OF COURSE you can't just buy one tire, you have to buy two. Don't even get me started on that. Just leave it there so as not to make me rant for an hour about tires and things as such. But tires make friends with the one directly across from each other, never to be separated from that day forward.

But now it's Tuesday and I'm out of school til December 1st and all I have to say about that is WA HOO! And Thanksgiving is almost here! And I can't even believe it so much.

I'm gonna end this post with some throwback pics to our trip to Corsicana in October. I have so many events from the last year I haven't posted yet. We'll see if that changes soon. BUT. These are some random but cute photos of the boys and part of the photo shoot of them as well.

This cracks me up every time I see it. I hear him saying..."very interesting" in his best Sigmund Freud impersonation.
William loves to help with Grandma.
New boots!
The next few are the first of the photo shoot.
I know this is far away but I love the landscape of it.

This was Hank getting up close and personal.

James was all like...
I don't know what it is...

But I want it!
Give it to me now!

I love each one of these.
Well that's all I got peeps.

It's 1:59 and I'm looking for a place to get comfy.

Pretty sure I know where to look.

Peace out to all.

A March trip to Corsicana

This week has flown by and no posting has been done at all. And I don't even feel bad.

Been watching lots of TV at night....motivation's currently at an all time low. During the watching of lots of evening TV, my ears have been assaulted by numerous commercials discussing medicines for ailments that include prostate issues with all the trimmings, bladder control problems with a long list of symptoms that make me say ewww and dysfunctions of the kind that begin with an e. I just can't take it anymore! Please fix your issues privately with your doctor so that my ears can be free.

This happened last week...
One night last week Olivia mentioned she hadn't seen Milo. The next morning as I was leaving for a very early dentist appointment and was pulling out of the driveway I glanced over to see Milo, looking distressingly bug eyed, locked inside our green suburban. All night long. So I didn't pull into the carport, I just stopped in the driveway. As I was walking inside I tripped on something and fell flat out on my belly. My upper left arm was wrenched and hurting and both palms of my hands hurt due to stopping my face from hitting the concrete. My left knee was scuffed through my jeans. Don't know how that happened without getting a hole in my jeans. I had to lay there for a few seconds to catch my breath so I could kill one cat. I hobbled inside the house to find Owen had gotten in the shower and I had no idea where his keys were. I yelled through the door to get the information I needed and went back to the car to either kill a cat, or set it free. Owen's been driving that car for a year now and had just gotten the car cleaned inside and out for the first time in that year. I unlocked the door to find a big pile of turds in the front passenger side floorboard. It smelled so good. Made myself not kill the trapped cat, got back into my car to go to the dentist only to have him tell me I needed two root canals. Such a fun day.

That's the second time Milo's been trapped in less than two weeks. A couple Saturdays ago while John was outside, he heard a muffled meowing and began the search for the bad cat. I immediately went to the attic and pulled the stairs down to find the once again distressed bug eyed cat looking down at me. He is one pain in the butt.

On a day to day basis Owen and I have been discussing the cleanliness of his bedroom. It's abhorrent. Today I took a stand and pressed the issue to the point of threatening to help him. He made a half *** effort but didn't want to vacuum. So I told him if he didn't, I would wait til he got good and asleep and I would be vacuuming his room at that exact moment. I warned Caitlin and John just in case I woke them up and apologized in advance. Not sure Owen really believed I'd do it. BUT. His room has now been vacuumed and I didn't do it. You do the math.

Now lets get back to the journal entry from the Corsicana trip from last March. I want to know how they survived the cold weather...
March 1, 2014

Emma, Maggie, Olivia and John arrived today. It was Maggie's graduation (yay!)
and Mardi Gras break for us so we decided to have a vacay.
A Maisy attack on Emma.
Traveling dogs.
We got here after dark and all was fine. We went to Wal Mart and then got Braum's of course.
Mmmmmm
We went on a late ride and didn't see anything really.
Not sure what's going on here, but Emma and Maisy have an interesting relationship.
Where's Waldo...or Maya?
She gets shotgun in the car and the good bed.
It was a lovely 70 degrees when we got here but the weather is supposed to turn tomorrow so we're going to bed expecting it to be very cold and rainy tomorrow.

March 2, 2014

It was definitely cold and a little rainy this morning. We spent the beginning of the day indoors
That's a super groovy sweater Emma.
Maggie and Maya's balancing act.
Is it gonna happen?
Tada!
and then ventured out to a few places. Overnight the precip changed from rain to wintry mix so that was going to be something. We decided to go for an early dinner/late lunch at Old Mexican Inn.
We walked outside after eating to pouring sleet and a frozen car.
We decided to finish everything we needed to do away from the farm and head back since everything was getting icy. By the time we got back to the farm it was covered in ice so we walked around and let the dogs run
Icy country roads look fab.
Icy footprints.
Icicles make lovely pictures.

Love this picture.
I love how the red barn stands out on the winter day.
This looks enchanting.
A different perspective.
This one too.
Bundled up for the cold day.
Addy LOVES cold weather!
and of course Addy thought it was a good idea to jump in the pond. We continued this pattern of warming up, going outside, then warming up again for most of the night.

Checking out icy things.
The Oscars were on but the TV kept breaking up. It was highly annoying but after some tinkering we fixed it. No night ride tonight. (We did buy a container of Braum's ice cream earlier.)
This is not yum I hate cherry everything. I repeat, everything.
Checking out ice thickness.
I like this picture a lot.
Exhausted from her day I guess.
March 3, 2014

It was still icy today and it never got above freezing but the sun was out so we slid around on the ice for a while then went to get something to eat. We realized yesterday that we had poorly planned on our food and basically had candy and donuts and popcorn to eat. We looked at all the icicles,

I love a good icicle.
This is fab.

Pictures of Buster always hurt my heart.
Addy's bored of it all.
I like this a lot.
Eating some hay to keep warm.
These two pictures...
Make Texas look like big sky country.

got some food and then headed back to the farm. Got some Braum's
and went on a late ride but stayed in the city since things were still a bit frozen.

Leaving tomorrow. So sad.

March 4, 2014

Leaving today! Sadness everywhere. Emma's pushing us out like she's on a tight schedule and it's not annoying at all. (Sarcasm)

Until next time!

Olivia, Emma, Maggie, John, Addy, Maisy and Maya.

P.S. Still cold but sunny.

This picture is cracking me up because Emma looks like she's wearing a bucket hat.
And that's a post. I'm not sure there will be another since I'll be leaving town from Saturday through Tuesday. Next week will be a short week for me and then it's Thanksgiving vacation! I can't even believe we're entering the holiday season!

It makes me want to exclaim! I'm not ready!!

But it's coming like a freight train.

I'm out like it's 12:11 on a Wednesday night.
