TARR Part 2

The pre-race predictions for TARR Monroe were as follows...Lindsey and Caitlin were considered the favorites for no other reason than Caitlin was part of the winning team with Lauren, not Lindsey, in TARR Corsicana. John and Owen and Carlie and Emma were predicted to vie for 2nd and 3rd. And, as one smart aleck stated, "The Vegas odds makers had the Walker girls coming in last." But they proudly proved them wrong by coming in next to last. Go team yellow!

Because Maggie and Olivia are known for their diabolicalness (yes that's a word), the 4 teams knew they were in for a challenge. The TARR course was set across a vast expanse of Monroe and West Monroe and included about 20 clues. After the teams left the church, they were directed to the Indian mound, Forsythe Park, the garden district and Restoration Park in West Monroe where problems ensued for the blue and yellow teams. I would tell you that Lindsey blew chunks there but that would be gross. And because Mollie and Whitney got distracted by their ridiculous need to practice their picture posing, the time they wasted allowed the green team to go into 2nd place (woo hoo my people!).

Now I could list all the stops but it would surely bore people to tears with the riveting, they went here, then here, then here. So I'm not gonna. I'll fast forward and say it ended in the square behind the Turners' house. And now that I think about it, Olivia may have been trying to give a hint in that picture in the last post. Remember when she was making a square? Hmmmmm...curious. Anyway, due to a secret "backdoor" entrance used by Carlie, she and Emma beat out team green by a hair. And I'll have to say I was shocked that my dear husband almost won because I've witnessed his "hurry" mode and it borders somewhere between a slug and a sloth. He DOES NOT speed up even when I'm saying, "Hurry, hurry, hurry!"

John and Owen arriving at the Turners. They were so close to winning the extremely valuable prizes.

Maggie watches as John runs towards the goal, hoping to be the first.

However once he rounded the corner, he saw that Carlie and Emma were in fact the first to arrive and therefore the other dark horse had already won the extremely valuable prizes..

Emma looks as if she's got some energy left for a little ballet. Carlie's gesturing wildly to Melanie.

Another poor sucker team still hoping they've won....but alas it was not to be.

Mollie seems to be celebrating her almost win or......she stepped in a bed of fire ants? What's really going on here Mollie?

I'm not sure if that's a jump of misplaced jubilation, glad she's out of the ants or if she's starting the YMCA song but she'll soon realize team yellow was 3rd.

Dejection and realization has now set in.

But even still Mollie seems to be talking some smack.

And then bringing up the rear, the no longer peppy blue team. But Cammie was the greeter/consoler/encourager for them. She seems happy they made it back safely.

Waiting for the presentation of the extremely valuable prizes.

And here it comes.

We have ex-basketball trophies coming out the wazoo and they make for the best and tackiest of prizes. Although, the bottom of this little gem was actually made by Maggie and Olivia while in Corsicana in anticipation of this momentous occasion.

Some enjoying the thrill of victory and others, the agony of defeat.
Defeat is ugly.

Oh yeah they're rubbing it in.

Carlie's glee might indicate she thought there were cash prizees.

But there wasn't.

But there was a British flag? Excuse me, it was ALMOST INDEPENDENCE DAY. Do we need to tell people who we became independent of?

Maybe a little over the top.

It ain't Wimbledon.

But everyone was awarded sparklers!
Someone tell Lindsey to take that sparkler out of her mouth!

Even the dogs had their own amazing race race.

But sadly Maisy was in the same boat as Lindsey and Caitlin

But they all lived happily ever after OR until TARR 3 coming Labor Day weekend!
The end.
