This is a plethora of Frank photos. He loved being at Gran's and always hated leaving. He also hated it when Gran started cutting all the trees in the yard as much as Dale loved using a chain saw to cut them down. Billie June said yesterday he was a tree hugger. He did love trees and sunsets. Frank is the one that coined the phrase "defensive eating" which meant even if you weren't hungry you better eat it while it was there cause it was gonna be devoured by the vultures that swarmed. He was right about that. And even though this is unrelated to July 4th, I have to tell this story.
When we had the restaurant back in the day, we were always closed on Sunday and every week we cooked lunch at home. One week we made stew but, for some reason we cooked it WAAAAYYYY too long and everything just dissolved into a thick disgusting sauce type situation. The cooks were pissed and the diners were extremely nervous about eating the mess and also disappointed in slop for lunch but most of the people at the table were too scared to say anything so as to further piss off the cooks. All were sitting at the table, heads were down and focused on choking it down our throats. Until, Frank, with no thought for his own safety said, "Pass the gruel please." It was a tension breaker for sure. To this day somebody will say that and we all laugh all over again. He was fantastic like that. Our family has had about 100 years of fun in our lifetime.
This first picture it seems father and daughter are having a lesson in whistling and we all know he was the master at that.
I've posted these before but they're worth another. A group of us decided to go for a truck ride one afternoon after a big rain. As you can see, it did not end well.
This is the group of goobers that did the deed. We slipped and slid ALL OVER that road. Gran had to come on the tractor to pull us out. As I recall, Meredith and Brooke blew in 2 because they got scared. We however thought it so fantastic that we had to document the entire event in photos. We look pretty pleased with ourselves.
After the blowing in 2, it was time for feet mud baths.
We have always ridden around on the backroads of Corsicana looking for anything fun or unusual and many times our trips didn't disappoint. We found this old plane in a pasture and we all wanted a closer look. There is no possible way I can identify all those peeps.
Frank got a really close look.
Frank, Brooke and Gran shucking corn for July 4th picnic.
Brooke was in charge of washing.
Swimming at Nolan's. We never talked Gran into getting a pool at the farm.....not a big shocker.
I don't know.
There's some bunny hopping going on in the yard. Frank, Brooke and Meredith.
