The first day in Olivia's words

May 27, 2013
The first day

Emma and Olivia did not greet the world until noon after an interesting night's sleep (Emma hogged the bed).

Lisa was well into her mowing duties and neglected to wear sunscreen which resulted in her looking like a lobster. Emma sunbathed and read while John broke rocks and Olivia and Caitlin bought a variety of seeds to plant over the summer. We had a Memorial day picnic of burgers and veggies and enjoyed a lovely 80 degree day on the porch. Carrie wanted to scatter some bluebonnet seeds in the big pasture so we did that as well and it caused a slight controversy in the family but it was ironed out quickly and no one was excommunicated.

Everyone required a shower this night and the water was running cold by the time some people got their turn.

We got Braum's again this night and Olivia's dreams of choco chip cookie dough were once again shattered and she had to settle for a hot caramel sundae. Victory must wait for another day.

On our evening ride we encountered a deceased corn snake slain in the road. We held a quick vigil and continued our ride. We saw no other animals except for one jack rabbit that Olivia saw that she didn't tell anyone about because she didn't want to have to turn around. It was late, it was time for bed.

The future is bright.
