This email was referring to the polygamist compound in Texas where everybody was married to everybody but I can't remember the name of them. In any case, it was gross and this started out discussing the picture of some of the ladies that were in the compound and their lack of Mary Kay products. But then it evolved into a discussion about being Amish and some of the people in the email group thinking they wanted to be Amish.......as if they could live without any modern conveniences. It was originated by Caitlin which is a rarity for sure. If you recall, she also had a fascination with the gypsies which had come to town some years earlier and thus the reference to the gypsies. This is an excellent example of how once an email discussion has begun, it can tend to meander down roads and back roads to who knows where.

Only the most enthralling thing ever.....

Caitlin
This is a screen cap of an interview with Fox News...
For those of you that were at Melanie's the other night the lady on the far
right is Sally and she was also on an interview with Larry King. I think she's
in on it. She has that same coy look all the time and she's older and has
been around longer. I think she threatens the other women into compliance.
Lisa
this has obviously replaced the gypsies in your fascination.....I know I will never win any beauty contests but COME ON!! It's just sad, sick and wrong.........
Carlie
One of the most fascinating things ever.
That is all.
Whitney
SAN ANGELO, TX IS WHERE JARRET GOES TO SCHOOL...SOMEONE CALL LISA G. CAUSE YOU KNOW SHE HAS INFORMATION
Lydia
the middle one could be her offspring look at the mouths
Lydia
It gives a whole new meaning to the word inbred
Whitney
SO Right!
Lindsey
I am fascinated by this and by the amish. Whitney when are we going amish.
Emma
I agree she is so in on it and I hope that Lindsey and Whitney go amish soon because that would make the rest of my year.
Judy
I think we should put the gypsies on the ranch in Texas and make the hair-doodle women put shiny metallic bells on their skirts and travel around in wagons.
Judy
I put an Amish costume in the children's church room today with a bonnet. Who wants it?
Lindsey
Me! I want to be amish.
Carlie
Lin, I want you to be amish.
They do let their real world sisters come visit, right?
Caitlin
Do you want to try out the amish lifestyle or be amish forever because I gotta tell ya I have no confidence that you could be amish forever
Carlie
Exactly, Caitlin. Which is why I would start a pool on how long they'd last.
Who's in?
Lindsey
Really?! Why not cait?
Caitlin
I'm totally in
Caitlin
Oh I don't know maybe because you just replied within 3 minutes (on your e-mail enabled phone) to me contacting you through the internet and not by letter... All that to say you have e-mail come straight to your phone in order to contact within seconds of attempted communication. You won't even wait until you reach a computer to check your e-mail but all of a sudden you'll be able to wait days on communication through letters...? Not likely.
Caitlin
Not bloody likely at all mate
Lindsey
Hmmm... You may be right. I should really think about it.
Carlie
Bravo, Caitlin, bravo.
I still want you to be amish. There are those that aren't as hardcore. Like, we saw this amish dude mowing his pasture with a regular lawn mower and not the ordinary ox-pulled machinery.
There's always hope.
Judy
well one of those amish people wrote a book. you don't think they hand printed millions of pages, do you?
Caitlin
Thanks carlie thanks.
I don't think a printing press is out of amish territory but e-mail certainly is and e-mail enabled phones most definitely are
Whitney
I CALL THE AMISH COSTUME!
Whitney
I cut down about a 15 foot tree today with a saw...im so amish already.
Caitlin
So does that make a lumberjack amish?
Lindsey
I already called it!!!
Judy
i told her that, Lindsey
uh, I think I got Lindsey's call on the costume about 8 or 10 emails ago....
Judy
Yes, Caitlin. All lumberjacks are Amish. It says so in the Bible.
Caitlin
Ha ha does not!
Carrie
you people crack me up..... and I could go amish til I had to go to..... REAL BATHROOM.....OR BATHROOM BATHROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carrie
as I told Mrs. Judy recently.... she is more of a woman or man....and that was meant as a compliment.....for growing up with an outhouse.....
Melanie
I am enjoying the conversation but you girls wouldn't last an hour as amish. We are WAY too spoiled to our luxury items like tv and internet. I am home right now because the men are here installing a cabinet to hold a 50 INCH TV. What was I thinking when I didn't stop him at 42". Carrie is almost Amish because she has no tv now cause the cable company figured out they had her hooked up when she's not supposed to be so now she has no channels. She's on her way all she needs to do is get candles and turn off her AC and she's Amish.
Editor's Note: Then Whitney brought the discussion back around to the photo of the polygamy women and their appearance.
Whitney
Celebrity stylist and salon owner Ted Gibson thinks it gives off a "homely" impression.
"It says 'I don't really care very much. I really don't have time to worry about the way that I look, because I have 20 children,'" Gibson said. "He's going from wife to wife to wife, so why should I look any better than the other ones?"
Caitlin
Geez I think AC alone would get me!
Melanie
Tues. morning Laura Bush guest hosted on the Today show. I didn't get to see it but did watch it later on the internet. Jenna and Barbara were on talking about twins Jenna said she told her fiance Henry that she was still sleeping with Barbara on Christmas Eve. She said she didn't think he was too thrilled about that but they were negotiating. I thought that was cute and I like them. They also went to their ranch and talked about the eco-friendly-ness of it. I know that has gone around the internet about their house but neat to see it is true. We could be friends if they would just let me!
Carrie
Yes I totally agree! Didn't see it on the net or the tv that I barely have....I have decided that I really am going to learn spanish through watching TELEMUNDO......yes its a real station....
the episode of Friends is on when Ross and Joey go down the fire escape......cracks me up everytime....rabbit ears do work....SORTA ....
Carrie
I think that Miley Cyrus is a dark headed Emma!!!!!!!
Another editor's note: Caitlin sent a picture of Miley showing her unders to people. Which is completely ridiculous.
Caitlin
I had one of Miley Cyrus' stupid songs about my best friend leslie said or
something like that stuck in my head at 6:00 am this morning it was not
pleasant. So thanks for that Carrie......!
Also, I don't enjoy her. I think she's full of herself.
Also also, have yall seen this!? Another reason why I don't enjoy her.
Judy
Who's full of herself, Leslie, Miley Cyris or Carrie?
Is Miley Cyris a girl?
Lindsey
Give it a read Mrs Judy.
Judy
Miley Cyris is Hannah Montana? I think she's okay then - I'll have to go back and check Owen's dream to make sure though.....
Carrie
WELL I DIDNT SAY EMMAS ATTITUDE WAS LIKE MILEY OR HANNAH!!!!!!!
And I looked at those pictures... I don't think that is Miley/Hannah.......she is never lookin full on to the camera...but I have no views on her music, attitude or color of bras......just that she kinda looks like E ma sorta....AND I AM TOTALLY FULL OF MYSELF.....I AM WONDERFUL....
Judy
Carrie - you ARE totally wonderful! Even if you do say so yourself!
Carrie
thank you Judy... you are wonderful too and I said that
Judy
We're both such WONDERFUL people. That's why we make such WONDERFUL friends.
Carrie
yes wonderfulness abounds!!!!!!!
Lisa
I'm gonna throw up

Someone was being a little brat
Easter historically has always been a day for taking pictures of families; at least in ours it has been. We would all head to Big Frank and Grandma's wearing our Sunday best so we could take our photos in front of all the beautiful azaleas. For years I made John wear a suit and most of the time my kids had new Easter frocks. It always took forever to get everyone assembled and ready to smile. Sometimes there were no smiles. Sometimes I was so disappointed or angry that it seemed impossible I would achieve even one decent picture.
These photos are no exception. And, I find it interesting that these are the ones I love to display here....not the perfect and precious ones. Clearly Owen was having a bad Easter. You can see from photo to photo that he was screaming his head off. But, the girls had on their game faces ready to cooperate. In the first photo it's apparent Olivia's concerned about the collapsing child just off to her left. It got no better as the shooting continued. Now that the years have passed and I've mellowed, these make me laugh and wish I hadn't made it such a big deal. But, I will say there's sweet revenge in having the attitude of the day captured on film FOREVER.
John trying to reason with a screaming 20 month old.
Owen angrily doing the wave
still waving.......unhappily
The girls know it's over. They're however pleased with themselves knowing they're not the ones that are gonna "get it" when Mom puts the camera down and finally gets her hands on the boy.

The toothbrush incident

“I have something to confess and after I tell you, you will never look at me the same again.”
Whitney
About 3 weeks ago, I accidentally used Mollie's toothbrush. I'M SO SORRY! IT WAS EARLY MORNING AND I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT UNTIL I WAS HALFWAY DONE! I DON'T KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED! HONESTLY, ITS NOT THAT I WASN'T GOING TO TELL HER, I WAS EVEN GOING TO GET HER A NEW BRUSH, WHATEVER KIND SHE WANTED, WHATEVER COLOR SHE WANTED, BUT I FORGOT UNTIL AFTER SHE HAD ALREADY USED IT. I PROMISE I WAS GOING TO TELL HER. I JUST FORGOT. AFTER IT WAS TOO LATE, I WAS JUST SCARED. I DIDN'T' SAY ANYTHING AND NOW ITS TOO LATE. I CAN NEVER GO BACK. THE GERMS HAVE GONE BUCK WILD. REPRODUCED MILLIONS OF TIMES OVER. I'M SO SORRY. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. I WILL BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN PICKING UP A TOOTHBRUSH EVERY TIME I USE ONE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. I'M SORRY. MOLLIE I HOPE AS YOU READ THIS, YOU ARE FORGIVING ME ALREADY.
Love used your toothbrush by accident sister,

Today
It's been a really busy day and I still have issues with the emails that I thought may be ready to post. They still aren't ready. So I am choosing to go watch a movie instead of sitting here and finding something to post. Maybe tomorrow will be more productive.
Well I've been kind of stumped tonight with what to post. There are several emails that I have sort of ready, but they don't seem to fit tonight. Oh well. I'm gonna put some more pictures up for now and think about what else to add later.
Church was good. Jared is doing a great job.
Started talking to Mom yesterday about the history of our family. I can tell some of it's gonna be painful to talk about. Some of it already has been. I know Dad was ahead of his time. I wish he had been able to get farther with his dreams than he did. I wish I had known more about him while he was here on earth. I know he made many more sacrifices for his family than I ever knew about during my lifetime. I know you can't play the what if game because it can drive you crazy, but I really wish you could see what could have been if one decision had been different. One for instance....Dad buying a drug store from a man that had offered to sell his business to him but then changed his mind. Dad and Mom would have built a garage apartment over the carport at Gee's house and he would have walked around the corner to work every day. I wonder what life would have been like if that had happened. I wonder what it would have been like if he had continued to work for Del Monte.
I wonder what would have happened if Gran had taken the job at the Dallas Morning News and moved to Dallas instead of staying in Corsicana. I wonder what would have happened if Mom had graduated from Baylor.
I'm not saying that any of it would have been better.....even though it may have been.......but I would love to sneak a peek at the unchosen road and see what life would have been.
What if we had never moved to Louisiana?
I will end this post with a sigh and a picture I found at Mom's house today.
A picture of Dad working in his lovely backyard in Louisiana
Because they decided and we did...........
One more conversation with him would be enjoyable to have.

The Strawberries
This email is referring to something that may or may not have happened at Caitlin's graduation party. Carlie and someone else were given the task of cutting up strawberries for the dessert. The strawberries were given to the "cutters" in a bowl with the stems already cut off. There was no question in the cutters minds, "Hmm I wonder if these have been washed?" So the cutters began to cut. After all the cutting was done, the desserts were prepared and completed. Party on! At some point after the party and after the desserts had been consumed, the conversation turned to the strawberries. The unwashed starwberries that were in the bowl for the cutters to wash and then cut. The cutters then said, "Umm wha? Wash? Wha?" The only guest left at the party at the time was Judy H. We received the following email the very next day.

I woke up this morning thinking about strawberries........
I was thinking that BEFORE THEY ARE WASHED, they probably have, like, fertilizer on them and stuff.......
Lisa
I have no knowledge of what you are speaking about......I do however have an unexplained twitch this morning though..........
Caitlin
I'm fine this morning. We're just building up that immune system
Lindsey
Oh, they for SURE had fertilizer on them and no telling what else. We're fine though so no worries, BUT we'll always talk about that year Lisa and Carlie tried to KILL us.
Editor's Note: I said Carlie and a cutter.
I have no knowledge of what Lindsey is referring to.
Judy
dictionary.com - twitch: (1) that physical response of the human body which indicates a complete and total breakdown of one's immune system.....
Lisa
I totally (no lie) went to dictionary.com to see if it said that. When I read that I thought geez for real does it say that? LIAR!.......we were just one person away form this being an in-house secret never to be revealed under penalty of an Indian arm burn..............and the memory of Whitney's ''toothpick it'' has made me laugh over and over since last night. Just to inform....when we were on the tacky cruise Lindsey asked Whitney what would she do if Lindsey fell off the ship. Whitney told her she would send for help and then she said she thought she could toothpick it...meaning she could hold her arms and legs really close to her body and jump in to save Lindsey. I did ask her to demonstrate the toothpick position and she did......she is convinced that Lindsey would have been knocked out from her fall from the height of the ship however; because Whitney would very calmly jump from the ship.....same height.... in the toothpick position she would not be knocked out and then there would be, not one but 2 girls to rescue in the deep dark waters somewhere out in the Caribbean sea. It's just so very plausible and hilarious....thanks for the reminder cause man it cracks me up
Carlie
unwashed strawberries? attempted murder?
i have no clue.
lisa-
how did we not know? i mean, come on.
Lindsey
That is so funny!! Gosh, I mean Whitney's personality is one of a kind....thank GOD!!! But as crazy as she can make everyone (yes, I know she will be reading this...she knows it's true) it is worth having her make us crazy for the things such as "toothpick it". Wow, it's just almost unbelievable. Too funny.
Carlie
yea, totally unbelievable like that time she walked on air.
whitney, you did not walk on air.
Lisa
No Whitney did not walk on air.....
She is more than a hand full.....
But then so is Dale.....
And something very weird I forgot to mention earlier.......I woke up this morning with a cut on my right index finger....it was not there when I went to bed......what the heck......
Judy
I can't BELIEVE you actually looked up twitch! And then admitted it! How wonderful. I couldn't resist the strawberry escapade being known by all. I totally believe that Whitney totally believed she could save Lindsey if Lindsey fell overboard. Why not? Now that I know the toothpick story (I was going to ask), what is an indian arm burn?
Olivia
Indian arm burns suck. its when someone grabs your arm with both
hands and twists in opposite directions. it just sucks. also punk'd
was a brilliant show idea.
Maggie
I think its hilarious that we didn't wash the strawberries.. it was
already in the bowl. Thought they were clean.
Crazy
Olivia
Did we go to sleep and wake up in January???? If your headed to
Corsicana tomorrow you better pack your "muck lucks" as my mother
would say because its supposed to snow tonight. and tomorrow.
Judy

Olivia
Snow.

lets ask Mags and Livvy they would know.......... CSI girls is unwashed berries attempted mmmmuurrrrrddeeerrrrrrrr????????????? aaahhhhhhh to punctuate... I have missed it soooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Days in January
Well I have been very bad about writing in the last several weeks. I have random things to talk about. Some may be more interesting than others or maybe not at all. Oh well they are still my thoughts and happenings in my life.
Saturday was full with a baby shower, Mollie's birthday party and shopping for Emma's birthday. All came off without a hitch and let me just say I love a bargain. I got Emma a shirt for $2.49 at Old Navy......score! There were bargains galore and now I'm officially ready for her birthday party. The birthday season has officially kicked off with every single month between now and August being full to the brim. And because Mollie shamed me into posting for hers, the pressure is huge to not miss anyone else's. Yikes! I will apologize in advance if I do.
Owen had his first practice after his first game last night. He looked a little rusty and nervous but I'm sure he's gonna settle in just fine. I can't believe I'm seriously thinking about sending him to public school next year. God is gonna get an earful from me in the next few months even though I know how the whole argument will end. Whatever.
On another note, The other night Olivia was getting in the shower in the front bathroom and yelled, "The back commode is running!" And Emma wallering in my bed heard her and randomly yelled back, "Well you better catch it!" I thought they were growing up. I was wrong.
The house has been very very loud lately because Caitlin has been singing any and all songs and statements. It can get pretty crazy at times. Trust me.
We are continuing our girl group movie watching but only on the weekends. School is cramping our style. Friday night we watched Return to Cranford........poor Bessie. Saturday night was a weird new movie called Adam. It was just OK. Not gonna buy it. Sunday night we watched the first part of BBC's Emma. It is quite wonderful. I wish we didn't have to wait till next Sunday night to watch the rest. It even kept Billie out until midnight on a Sunday. Scandalous!
Owen, Olivia and I went for a walk today. Although it's cool outside, you can almost feel Spring in the air. The wind was whipping through the live oak making the most wonderful sound as we walked by. Olivia and I looked at each other and laughed. I can't explain it but I know I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.

Christmas 2009 was one of the best ever in spite of circumstances that could have made it terrible. Many of us had unknowns....and still do. There were and always will be precious people missing. It wasn't about how much money you made or didn't make. It wasn't about the presents or the food or how dead your Christmas tree was. It was and still is about trusting God in every single area of our lives. That's easily said. It may seem simple but it can be quite difficult. It's about giving God access to our hearts, trusting Him with an uncertain future, about hearts that have been broken before and sadly will probably be broken again. But more importantly it's about understanding just how much God loves each of us and how much He wants the best for every single one of us. It's about knowing that during your most vulnerable and frightening circumstances, God is faithful and worthy to be trusted. And that's why I know I am living in peace right now that does pass up all of my understanding.
It has been for me about learning to keep my mouth shut so I won't derail the promises of God. And let me say some days it takes all the energy in my body to do just that. I told some people yesterday that I haven't talked for about 6 months because what I would have said would have come from looking at circumstances and not looking at God. Don't get me wrong, I'm still striving towards the mark. I'm not so arrogant as to say I've made it. I've made it some and failed some......but God's grace is sufficient for today. And it will be for tomorrow as well.
I am grateful for what God has done for me.
I am grateful for the peace He has given me.
I am thankful for so many things and so many people.
The future really is so bright I have to wear shades........
